Future Roots is a music label and production company that has been an integral part of Edmonton's electronic music scene for over a decade, known for bringing a variety of bass music shows to the city. The collective of DJs, producers and promoters - with musical roots including Drum & Bass and Jungle, UK Garage and Hardcore, and Dub - was born out of founder Dean 'Phatcat' Musani's desire to set off in a different direction from the folks he had been originally working with to cultivate the community.
Canadian Colours is a group and party series started by the folks at 9910 in an effort to promote, share and enjoy Canadian talent from all over the country. Because seriously, why not? The open forum can be found on Facebook - a hub to shed light on your favourite hidden Canadian gems or to discuss the acts we all know and love.
This past Saturday marked Smiling Face's warm welcome home of Jason Borys, returning from his first solo tour through Europe and the U.S. to 9910. Borys performed live alongside Normals Welcome label mate Nik7 aka The Paronomasiac, with warm up and closing sets from Fraser and TAF of the Refuge crew.
