Bad Buddy/ Verttigo/ cikwes/ Bhuyash Neupane & Mustafa Rafiq - TOGETHER YEG

The 2023 Edmonton JUNOs Host Committee is proud to announce the launch of the Together YEG Concert series taking place between October 2023 and March 2024. This legacy project is a ten show series running until March 28, 2024.

“Music is the universal language and we strive for more voices, more stories, more opportunities for new artists to be heard and to share their musical histories,” said JUNO 2023 Edmonton Host Committee Co-Chair, Aimée Hill. “We look forward to seeing our vision come to life through producer Brent Oliver’s programming and seeing our live music scene thrive because of these new opportunities and artist connections. We hope Edmontonians will come out to support such a worthwhile endeavour.”

More line-ups and venues will be announced in the coming months including performances by Cristian de la Luna, Moraine, ASKO, Manny V y su Esquina Latina, Nuela Charles, cikwes, Good Information, Verttigo and more. Series producer Brent Oliver of BOP MGMT & Consulting remarks “I’m thrilled to be able to program and support Edmonton’s music scene through the Together YEG series and can’t wait to announce more events and artists for 2024. Edmonton’s rich and diverse history of live music and artistic creativity will be on full display across venues in town.”

All events are on sale @ linktr.ee/togetheryeg for $15 in advance, or $20 day of event. The best part of the series is that all ticket revenue is being donated to worthy charities - iHuman, Yona-Sistema & MusiCounts.

“It’s exciting to be able to support these charities,” said JUNO 2023 Edmonton Host Committee Co-Chair, Renée Williams. “iHuman, Yona-Sistema & MusiCounts do such important work within the Edmonton community to foster art and music education; an important part of our legacy is to ensure that these organizations have the resources required to continue to grow their programs.”

Anomalie live at 9910

Nicolas Dupuis is never far from home. As Anomalie, the shape-shifting production project he unveiled in 2016, Dupuis has channeled his musical upbringing (his mother, a piano teacher; his father, a host on Radio-Canada), formal schooling, and stage-seasoned chops into two companion EPs — Metropole and Metropole II — the Chromeo collaboration Bend the Rules, and a series of singles lighting a pathway to his upcoming long-form debut, Galerie. The Metropole series, released in 2017 and 2018, was the story of a city — Dupuis’ native Montreal, where he still resides — visiting familiar landmarks, cosmopolitan rhythms, and well- worn streets. By early 2020, Dupuis’ love letters to home had taken him around the world and back, powering two sold-out tours spanning North America (Red Rocks Music Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Electric Forest), Europe, and Asia — plus, a social audience now into the millions, and earned endorsements from contemporaries like Charlie Puth, Snarky Puppy and others.

9910 is proud to present... Anomalie

Odario with Good Information and Just Moe + DJ Mr. Kou

Odario
Odario (Garfield) Williams is a voice, a soothing set of frequencies, sometimes delicately spoken into the pop filter of a CBC microphone, allowing the proximity effect to fill your ears with the low register of the Guyanese-born, Winnipeg-raised raconteur’s scintillating afterdark program, or otherwise expounded to the back of the room as part of one of his bombastic hip-hop performances. Odario got his start in wintrous Winnipeg, rapping in the pop and dub influenced ensemble Mood Ruff, which received much acclaim from Much Music and CBC Radio 3 in the mid ‘00s, but whose website now redirects to a Chinese industrial glue brand. As Grand Analog, Odario became the sole frontman, moving deeper into rock and soul to carry his tongue-in-cheek socio-political commentary through the ‘10s, garning several western Canadian music award nominations. Looking more internally, Odario has set aside the band moniker and opened up the rolodex, collaborating and creating freely, recently channeling Gil Scott-Heron on ‘Low Light (In This Space).’ His latest is in collaboration with Edmonton’s jazz-hop ensemble Good Information. Nod your head sideways to this true hip-hop iconoclast.

Good Information

Fresh off recording their debut album, Good Information returns with a new batch of original music. The band exhibits a sound rooted in jazz that borrows from head-nodding hip-hop loops, soulful neo-soul harmonies and math-rock's dizzying time signatures. Their brand of "jazz with a beat-aesthetic shines through improvisational interplay woven over minimalist structures; one moment they're a groove-making machine, the next, a blur of collective improvisation. Good Information maintains the traditional elements of small-combo jazz, leaving room for the music to bend and take shape in the moment as they react to each other.

NAB DNB Presents: Satl (The North Quarter, Integral)

NAB DNB Presents: Satl (The North Quarter, Integral)

Satl

Hailing from Poland, Satl is one of the leading lights in a new generation of Drum & Bass producers. Still only in his early 20’s he first started producing over a decade ago, giving his music a refinement and depth beyond his years.
Blending a host of influences Satl has managed to craft a signature sound best described as hazy cosmic soul with powerful rolling drums. Never satisfied and driven to excel at his craft, the young producer is absurdly prolific, often writing dozens of tracks in a month. It’s not surprising then that his music has been heavily supported by some of the most influential DJs in the scene and has him working closely with leading labels such as The North Quarter and Integral.

His productivity also influences his DJ set which heavily feature his own work making them unique and sought after showcases. His blend of melancholic, yet energetic soulful music has already taken him across the world, from London to Hong Kong and Sydney and yet Satl’s journey is only just beginning.

Heymac

Canadian based Heymac continues to demonstrate the serene beauty that can be found within the Drum and Bass genre.
Following his release on the ProgRAM100: Software compilation he has released numerous songs with his signature driving drums and ethereal soundscapes withlabels like 170+ Recordings, Bay 6 Recordings and Headsbass as well as his ownself-releases such as his song Hamartia. Heymac continues to show the importanceof melody and appreciating the moment in his songs and performances.

NAB DNB Presents Night of the Living Drums Featuring Reflektor and Mt. Doyle

NAB DNB Presents Night of the Living Drums Featuring Reflektor and Mt. Doyle

REFLEKTOR

One of Canada's brightest in Drum & Bass, Reflektor has been on fire since linking up in 2015. Tracks on Shogun Audio, Symmetry Recordings, Technique Recordings, and 4NC¥ DarkMode have set them apart and shown a sound with no boundaries. Their creative and original approach to production led to spicy collaborations with North American greats like Dave Owen and Mat the Alien as well as vocal powerhouses Anastasia and Leo Wood. The duo delivers one hell of a package with each of their respective skills which has landed them festival appearances at Lightning in a Bottle, Shambhala, and Wicked Woods along with a slew of club appearances across Western Canada and the US West Coast. Boasting impressively energetic DJ sets crammed with more tracks than you can shake a stick at, Reflektor's roller coaster track selection and stage presence are hard to match.

MT. DOYLE

In the beginning Mt. Doyle was known for his smooth taste in Drum & Bass, and his unmatched love for pizza. But it wasn't long before Doyle expanded his horizons to include Funk, House, Hip-Hop and Bass, all with his soulful West Coast flavour. He quickly became a staple in the BC electronic music scene, known not only for his multi-genre sets but his range of recorded mixes as well.
