The Edmonton debut of UK legend • RONI SIZE • (Full Cycle || Reprazent UK)
Roni Size’s whole life has been about building something new from whatever was around him. From Bristol youthclub parties, through the white heat of rave and the founding moments of jungle and drum’n’bass, to transforming underground electronic music into something that could be played by a live band on the biggest arena and festival stages, he has at each stage created completely afresh - not just a sound or style but an entire methodology of how music can be made. And each time, that new creation has reflected his heritage, his surroundings and the precise moment in which he’s operating.
Classic modern techno is exactly what Sian and his label Octopus represent. When you have interests ranging from entomology, cosmology and marine biology, to the social impact of the rave generation, you tend to make unusual art. Sian stands out as a little more bohemian than the average electronic talent.
Current Value represents more of an idea than an individual. The project’s core fundamental objective is constant adaptation and invention, a metaphorical transformative algorithm taking inspiration from current ideas and transforming them and engineering new forms.
Make sure the date on your calendar is MARKED for these MEN so you know how the show of the summer was, in person. Radioactivity is the next evolution of Jeff Burke and Mark Ryan's songwriting mastery with help from Gregory Rutherford and Daniel Fried of band/tour compatriots, Bad Sports. Edmonton living room coach moshers, No Problem; will provide their own brand of energetic slams and commentary. Not for the tame of heart. Maybe, you'll get to sample something off their upcoming LP too. Screaming Targets, are aiming for your hearts

nêhiyawak hails from amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton) on Treaty 6 territory. Comprised of Kris Harper, Matthew Cardinal, and Marek Tyler - three Indigenous musicians coalescing at the intersection between traditional and contemporary music. Their sound at times loud and sweeping, and in moments - reticent and careful. Recording their first EP in November 2016 with Colin Stewart (The New Pornographers, Black Mountain, Dan Mangan), the music balances the band’s heritage with the present. Indie-rock guitar and dance floor synths blend and walk alongside the steady beats of carved cedar log and hand drums
